Two Movements Painting

An original sumi ink drawing on Thai handmade paper, measuring 58cm x 79cm. This work represents a bridge in life. The two movements consist of the left to right and right to left stokes that form the bridge. This gives the bridge its form and these directions allow these connections to be formed. Traditionally made paper is porous, so the technique of painting requires that the brush be in motion as it comes in contact with the paper and flow in a rapid manner. This technique provides visual effects that can't be created in other other media. It means that if you hesitate you end with a work of blobs, but if you are sure in your approach the results speak for themselves.
