This artwork from my UnderWater Collection uses epoxy resin, a challenging yet rewarding medium. Resin starts as fluid as water and gradually hardens, requiring technique and patience. This curing process adds unpredictability, mirroring life itself. The high-gloss finish enhances the depth and vibrant colours, reflecting light and bringing the piece to life. The UnderWater collection captures the feeling of diving deep into oneself, like diving into the ocean. Each resin layer symbolizes life experiences blending to form unique identities. The abstract design, fluid forms, and layers reflect light breaking through water, representing self-discovery. The sea has been an essential inspiration. Water’s movement and reflections echo life’s journey. I frequently use the blue, turquoise, and aquamarine tones to evoke the ocean's depths, while contrasts between dark and celeste add mystery. My work brings to mind standing on a beach, looking at the seascape where sand meets the sky, inviting inner exploration. These pieces invite you to embark on your self-discovery. The resin layers and fluid compositions reflect how experiences intertwine, shaping who we are. Each artwork conveys peace and movement, symbolizing life’s flow. These aren’t just wall art but expressions of individuality and self-reflection. I’m Rubén Abstract, an artist born in Madrid in 1975 with roots in the Canary Islands, where I spent my adolescence and university years. My family’s heritage from the islands, combined with Madrid’s energy, profoundly influences my work. Beyond art, Ironman triathlons and marathons have taught me discipline and endurance, which shape my creative process. Whether I work with acrylic, oil, or mixed media, I push to explore new depths in my art. As I continue growing, both in life and art, I aim to connect with you through my artwork. I hope these pieces resonate with you emotionally and inspire you to reflect on your journey.
