Influenced by surrealism I wanted to combine an unlikely study of various items inorganic and organic, that were so very different from one another not only in appearance but in nature. A rock, inorganic, probably millions of years old, and changes very little over huge swathes of time. Delicate, bright diaphenous butterflies having life, but for only a minuscule amount of time. Fruit which also has it's own short life, already turned into something else by the time this painting was finished. And the only item in the painting that man can make, the stapler. Each viewer will probably have a different interpretation of the painting, so I will leave it there. Painted with acrylic on pre prepared 3mm birch plywood. Sealed with isolation coats and varnished with a high quality anti UV acrylic varnish. Measures 600mm x 400mm. Supplied unframed.

I have been working as a freelance ceramics and glass restorer since being professionally trained in the early 1990's. As such, i have carried out projects for The British Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art NYC, Glasgow Museums, The Conservation Centre, Salisbury and The National Palace Museum, Taiwan. I decided to re utilise my skills accumulated over several decades and apply them to canvas. My influences are many and varied from Pop Art to Surrealism, Abstract, Expressionism to Impressionism. I adore exploring and trying out new things with acrylic medium and find the process theraputic and very satisfying, I hope this is reflected in my work...
