Julie Crone is a professionally trained visual artist and interior designer. Now a full-time painter, the decade she spent working in design heavily influences her art and is the lens through which she visualizes her work. Julie creates each piece with a setting in mind and aims to produce work that is sophisticated, rich, and functional in a variety of spaces. Julie has had a passion for art and creating since childhood. Julie holds a BA in fine art from the University of Arizona and is a graduate of the widely-known FIDM institution based in Los Angeles. She spent six months immersed in creating art and art history in Florence, Italy. Travel and adventures inspire her paintings through her color palettes and the textures she builds. Julie’s work is an embodiment of her experiences and the memories they evoke. Known for her oil on canvas works, Julie recently started experimenting with acrylic pours on wood panels, finished with smooth coats of resin. Her work is introspective and personal, yet open to interpretation. Adding resin coating to newer pieces adds a mirror-like design element that can bring the viewers’ own experiences to life and encourage self-reflection. This is Julie’s greatest hope, that her work will ignite emotions in those who view it. Julie has taken what she learned from the work of some of her favorite artists, including Jim Dine, Julia Nee Chu, and Robert Rauschenberg, and found her own abstract style. Layers and detail are present in all of her pieces. Julie uses them to create a sense of movement and motion, which is even more pronounced with her acrylic pour technique. New details emerge every time a piece is viewed. Julie and her family live in Newport Beach, California, where she works from a private studio. You can find more of Julie’s work on her Instagram account @juliecronefineart.
