About The Artwork

This painting is oil on canvas, unframed, stretched and ready to hang. A circle is a reflection of eternity. It has no beginning and no end. Its image is universal. It represents the infinite nature of energy, and the complex system of the universe. Its meanings are far reaching and profound. If you were to stand behind the eyes of the first human and look out into the skies, you will see your first circles – the moon, the sun, the dots in the skies as planets, and the stars. A circle implies an idea of movement, and represents the cycle of time. It also demonstrates notions of totality, wholeness, the infinite, timelessness, and all cyclic movement. It governs the perpetual motion of everything that moves, the planets' journey around the sun and the great rhythm of the universe. The circle is also zero in our system of numbering, thus symbolizing strength and meaning. It has a magical value as a protective force... and indicates the end of striving towards psychic wholeness and our reflective understanding of the beauty of the world. I am also fascinated by the origin and structure of cells in a biological context. Cells emerged on earth 3.5 million years ago, they are the basic unit of life, and the smallest unit of life. All organisms are composed of one or more cells and are the fundamental unit of structure and function in all living organisms. Cells emerged on Earth at least 3.5 billion years ago. We as humans contain more than 10 trillion cells.
