Untitled Abstract #9 Painting

Born in Chicago, I spent many years living in Boston as an academic physician and healthcare executive. I now live in Santa Fe where I divide my time between doing abstracts in acrylics on large canvas and leadership coaching with healthcare system executives. I am drawn to painting because it offers me an opportunity to “get out of my head” and into my physical and spiritual being to experience the most basic aspects of the creative effort. I explore the relationships between color, shape, line, light, contrast and the boundaries between them. My aspiration as a painter is to produce works that evoke strong feelings, reflections and recollections in the heart and mind of the viewer. The works can be thought of as “interior-scapes.” I intentionally don’t name my paintings as I want the viewer to feel free to experience and decide what the possible meanings and emotional resonance of the work may be for them.
