About The Artwork
This painting is divided in three zones. 1. The calm and light area of the sky. 2. The dark and heavy elements in the top middle. 3. The large area of the sea, which is full of reflections. The artists intension was to describe how the lightness of the water can support the weight of the big metal boats. This contrast, along with the rich textures was the challenge for the artist. This painting was sold in Greek Sales at Sotheby's, in 2008, for 16,877€.

Dimitris Sarasitis was born in 1963 in Athens. He studied painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts under professors P. Tetsis, R. Papaspyrou, and D. Mytaras. He graduated in 1996. Works of his form part of prestigious private and public collections, like the Bank of Greece, the Greek Parliament, the Ecumenical Patriarchate and more. Some of his works have been auctioned by Sotheby's Institute of Art.
