County Durham based artist Dave Aye, has been honing his skills in Representational landscape art over the past several years. After a long career within a family business as amongst other roles an Architectural Draughtsman / Surveyor. He has found a way of blending his draughting experience with his painting skills. His paintings pay homage to his Northern England roots. Picturesque landscapes, Farmhouses and Cottages are all brought to life with strong tone and an imaginative colour palette. His paintings convey a story of simpler times gone by. Dave describes his paintings as the reimagining of ordinary things as if viewed through the eyes of a child. A keen Mountain Biker & Rambler, He finds most of his painting inspiration whilst travelling the cycling & walking trails across North East England, bringing about the perfect marriage of his passions. A keen artist since childhood, Dave studied art to A Level standard, but considers his naive representational style to be largely self taught. He sights his biggest influences in art as his favourite artists, David Hockney, Ashley Jackson, Wilf Roberts and Peter Brook.
