Valley of the Dolls Painting

I was inspired to create this work after reading the book by Jacqueline Susan and watching the movie of the same name "Valley of the Dolls". I wanted to create a painting that evokes a feeling of perfection in a mindless world. When a viewer sees this painting I hope they feel the warmth of the sun and the urge to plunge into a pool in hot California. I painted this piece primarily using Oils however it was also the first time I used oils sticks, which can add wonderful texture to the usually smooth painting. The creaminess of the sticks means you can really blend them or create harsh jagged shapes.
