Valley of the Blue Moon Painting

This began as an experiment in textures, clouds, water effects, landforms, fire, ruined rock structures, etc. I avoided determining where the horizon should be until I read the novel 'Lost Horizon' and its description of the valley of the blue moon. I repositioned some of these elements and painted the moon in the sky above, which allowed them all to flow towards a distant Shangri-La. This painting became a Covid year response to creating something that hopes to withstand the conflagrations that might surround us.
