About The Artwork

This view has been painted in the Garden of Caves, and it was finished in one place during the same day. During the painting I could listen to the sound of water. I tried to capture three different spaces, the top one from where the water sources and the down one where it gets lost to the river. At the same time I was very much aware of the space where I am sitting and observing this movement, inside the cave. With this painting I wanted to capture the different perspectives, which the plants are representing by growing from down to up and others growing from the edge of the rock down following the stream of water. Even this place called Garden of caves is quite known in Meghalaya, it still have its untouched own beauty and speaks its stories of order in the nature to the people who decide to visit and listen.

I am from Slovakia and in my work I find inspiration in the environment and culture of the place where I am working. Because of my interest to learn more about different cultures I studied one year in Basque country in northern Spain and I went for my master degree to study to India. My current works are focusing on visual memory and I am searching the fundamental forms in the wild nature. My first expeditions to the deep jungles in North East India were very exciting because I experienced first hand the feelings of the people who live in harmony with nature. Painting directly in the plain air in the rain forests is for me a reflection of organic biodiversity of nature and its ability to survive and grow in very difficult terrain. Humans have been inspired by nature for centuries, and I believe that till now we have subconscious connection to the natural forms and we are able to read the metaphors for the survival in or surrounding landscape.
