Visitor 1.0 Painting

At the age of 18 I packed up my bags and flew to Ghana, a small country in West Africa. I spent two years of my life volunteering, laughing, teaching, learning and playing with some of the most mesmerizing individuals on this globe. I quickly fell in love with their art with its simplicity of detail yet it's complexity of color. I call it silhouette art because its as if the subject is cut out and only a black outline is left. Instead of depending on details inside the subject the surrounding environment is used to express the story. And how important a story is! I love silhouette art because it is abstract enough that every viewer will see a different story and yet practical enough that every viewer can at least smile and see whats going on.
