another painting that was inspired by Oaxaca. feeling at ease in this land of amazing biodiversity. the kite is a metaphor for letting ideas fly. or, holding the string delicately to catch all sorts of fantastic ideas. fantastic as in fantasy. as in the undercurrent of all Mexican art. as I tried to demonstrate in my thesis Arte fantástico de México.
I did not think that this painting looks its best in this yellow wall. I am temporarily lending some paintings to my mother in law, which is a Mexican mother and I doubt I have any options. I shouldn't complain right? the hotel is an amazing historical building in the center of this amazing city. we hope the pandemic will be over soon cause right now, the hotel is empty.
the frame can be taken down, and the painting can be rolled in a tube for you.
I guess my signature is missing! will have to go back to the hotel and paint it so that it is dry when this beauty leaves me for ever.
this is one of my favorite paintings, if not the most loved one. i think there is something about the face of the girl. but mostly it's the combination of colors that i find unique.

I am interested in experimenting with sincretic images that capture the whole range of religious experiences. I am inspired by the architecture and mural paintings of the Aztecs, Mayan, Zapotecan and other peoples from America and I like to intersect them with the aesthetics brought to America by the Spanish, like virgins, saints and holy beings. I intersect them with a third paradigm which is my personal journey into Indian philosophies and the idea of enlightenment. The result shows where I am now, believing that art is the way, and being an artist is my religion.
