About The Artwork
This painting is a triptych depicting a wounded lion which was inspired by a stone relief from ancient Nineveh. The base is scraped acrylic colour; pink, orange and cyan with a stencil of a 'snake lying upon treasure' in gold spray paint. These are placed at the entry points of the wounds of the lion which is impaled by a sword and two arrows. The sword is cutting into the mind with a diagram of a brain in black and white, written 'foolish flesh wisdom'. The first arrow in the middle panel is penetrating a diagram of a heart, written 'a man's heart'. The second arrow is penetrating the hinder part of the lion, written 'false strength'. The tongue of the lion is extended and written upon it; 'life and death'. Pfizer and Astra Zeneca logos also feature.
