About The Artwork
An early start to the day was rewarded by this softly billowing mist, gathering at the base of the trees, and cloaking in mystery a familiar English landscape. Several layers of oil paint have been gradually built up, to create a dark, grassy foreground and misty tree filled mid ground. The rising sunlight is spilling over the trees, defining the tree line against the pink tones and clouds of the sky beyond. Painted with Michael Harding Professional Artists oil colours, on a cotton canvas. The edges are painted a clean white (please see additional photograph). This artwork is signed and dated on the back, and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. Ready to hang. This canvas will be carefully wrapped in tissue, bubble wrap and foam board, then packaged in a sturdy cardboard box.

Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature. Most of her paintings are begun outside and completed in her London studio. Although working primarily in oil, Lizzie also enjoys the physicality of exploring etching with zinc and steel plates, to create intaglio prints. Lizzie Butler's artwork has been exhibited at Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London, The Russell Gallery, London, and several other Galleries. Lizzie's paintings can be found in collections in America, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe, with several customers returning to buy further paintings and place commissions. March 2019 - Two pieces shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts summer exhibition.
