About The Artwork

The idea for “Water Flower” came to the artist after painting “Effervescence”, which is an abstract interpretation of lily pads in a pond. The plant depicted is known as a Mosaic plant, or Ludwigia sedioides, which grows in water. What intrigued the artist, was that the plant's green leaves grow in a formation that mimics the petals of a flower. The artist then wondered what would it look like if the leaves where painted like water, and the water painted green like the leaves. The result is a bold painting that reads well at a distance, and yet contains details which become apparent at close range. The painting is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.
