Water Painting

Water, as a symbol of the collective unconscious, is a recurring theme in my work. In this composition, I studied and transposed some of its multifaceted representations and symbols found in Western and Eastern cultures: views of the planet Mercury, kidneys, hair, an ear, winter, metamorphoses, fear, blackness, the colour blue, ice. All these are connected to the element water. The texture of the paint is sometimes insubstantial, sometimes as impenetrable as ice. Moreover, this work was made during the war in Irak, and the collages especially refer to religion and war.
