This painting is part of a series of paintings that are moody and mysterious. It was painted in winter and evocative of a sense of shelter and warmth that we all wish for, and a sense of belonging. I worked intentionally with a limited and dark palette. Most of the painting is oil and as is typical, I draw into my paintings, but there was a final layer of white acrylic applied in certain areas and treated in a way to create visible relief and texture.
