About The Artwork
New York City is as intense as they say and I wanted to capture the heart-racing rhythm of the city in this painting. But I was equally interested in capturing the angst and yearning that come with being a New Yorker. New Yorkers dare to dream, even though that often means facing fears. Though dreaming tends to have cheery associations, I thought about its darker sides while creating this work. Dreaming can actually produce a lot of anxiety. Perhaps that's one of the reasons why New Yorkers are so anxious: We're dreamers!
