About The Artwork

This work was inspired by Ikenga of my Igbo culture of Nigeria. Before the arrival of Christianity, every man has his own Ikenga. It is a personal symbol of human endeavor, achievement, success, and victory. Ikenga is grounded in the belief that the power for a man to accomplish things is in his right hand.It also governs over industry, farming, and blacksmithing. It is believed by its owners to bring wealth and fortune as well as protection.
