In the gaps of time, between working on larger sculptures & paintings, I tend to create groups of smaller artworks. 
These gaps of time may consist of just a few seconds or minutes of work involving, maybe, just one gesture or mark and then, in a similar manner to that of the late British painter Howard Hodgkin, the artwork is returned to the studio wall or shelf. This process can continue for many weeks, months, or even years.

This artwork was, in part, inspired by Picasso's 'Guernica' & 'Weeping Woman', both created in 1937, the year of my late mother's birth.
