What Stays Painting

I paint as a way to process my emotions and try and make sense of the world around me. This painting was done with no place in particular in mind. When I looked at the photos that I took of it, I was immediately transported to my childhood to a very real memory. I have lived in Oregon for the last thirty odd years-but I grew up in the SF Bay Area and my family had a cabin in Soda Springs. We often drove on the "old Highway" and this looks just like the view we could see on that of Donner Lake. Seeing this in painting made me very happy. I hope that the viewer can also be reminded of a place that they have good memories of.
