About The Artwork

Recently I had a lot of discussions with visitors in my exhibitions about the colors pink and violet. Many people expressed their spontaneous dislike of these colors - something I cannot understand as I think there is great beauty in these colors, I see them a lot in nature and love to explore their many aspects in many combinations. Last but not least they have a lot of positive meanings to me like love, sunrise, hope, peace, dawn.... so I decided to make it a series. One of my new handmixed gouache paintings, done at my recent residency at the Baltic Sea, where we had a lot of changing lights, water, wind, clouds... This painting shows lots of thin layers with many marks and structures. The colors are handmixed and some extra silver pigments add some special sparkle when hit by direct light, just like you can have it in nature. 50x50 cm, handmixed gouache, eggtempera, some acrylics and some silver pigments on gallery wrapped canvas, sides partly painted, hook on the back. Signed on the back and Certificate of Authenticity. Comes unframed, the frames are just examples what it could look like. If you want to frame, the painting will like white, dark grey, black, silver, golden frames! (c) 2019 Gesa Reuter, all rights reserved. Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
