About The Artwork
My second version (the first version was very different) of the Biblical story of King David, grieving the death of his son Absalom. I was originally inspired by composer Eric Whitacre's moving choral work of the same name. My intention was to depict a dark scene expressing his emotion but include light, as a dramatic element. The oil painting was done on artist linen canvas adhered to a honeycomb aluminum panel, which is completely archival and very light weight before framing.
