About The Artwork

Science inspired this work. I was considering the paradox of a collision between an irresisitible force and a resistable force. I wondered what really happens if they did collide . A Professor, Nigel Copner, whom I have the pleasure of knowing, answered my question, very quickly and succinctly. " They become one mass." So here's my artistic interpretation of that action, with thanks to the Professor. Two hearts one hot, red, one cold, blue, the resistable and irresistable forces needed collide and as they become one mass at the centre the most healing colour we know, purple. Well, I found it interesting ! I hope viewers will consider their own hearts , their loves, life and dreams. I hope it brings joy, but with joy it will always invoke sadness to some. Materials : A square of old builders mesh, a piece of paper, paint and a toothbrush are all that was needed to create like this. A real "Blue Peter" of a painting.

Multi -Prize and Award Winning Artist, Marc Monroe, was born in London in 1954.Now lives in The Valley's of South Wales. UK. Marc has worked in film, theatre and radio but settled as an artist. Still with a great passion for film and theatre. He comes from 'a show biz family', which goes back 3 generations. 'I am a self taught artist who paints with "what I have or what I can afford, while always trying to come up with something new." ' I taught myself to draw and paint while in jail during the1970's and 80's, for various drink, drug related crimes. My chosen subject, portraiture of beauty: of the body, mind or spirit.(Rarely do all 3 collide.) It's always been about the 'real beautiful people'. Now after years of bright light and 'pretty', it's time for me to go dark. Show you the real horror that lurks beneath. I don't have any long rambling pseudo-intellectual crap to expound on art. I just love painting and art. Stepping firmly into the 6th Age of Man, my electric butterfly mind still flutters somewhere between : "Ziggy Stardust and The Hubble Telescope ", (With one eye on The James Webb Telescope.) Comfortable in my 5th garret period, work sometimes means giving up my bedroom for weeks. A studio is a dream. My work is sometimes coded, (DNA - my blood), has a simple message in it or maybe a visual gag. Any use of symbols is especially limited. With 31 years experience, all that I really have learned is that " the pursuit of perfection is a bloody nuisance" I live a semi- reclusive life 1150 ft up a mountain in the Valleys of SE Wales. I love "˜the arts' , "˜good' rock music, comedy and the peace and quiet of the night, usually painting through it into the early hours. My chrono gene is set to the night !. My favourite artists' quote is a simple truth, " An artist works best when he's hungry." Attributed to Vincent Van Gogh.' Marc Monroe.Last Updated : 15th August 2019
