Painting: Oil on Canvas.
A picture is better than a thousands words. But a few words can conjure up more than just one picture. Words and pictures, conflicts and compliments. Ancient Chinese poems put on scrolls by the masters of calligraphy (often times the same person) have exploited this relationship for thousands of years. My recent work attempt to carry on this tradition with the aid of color and texture of oil paints, a Western tradition much too late in coming to China like many modern inventions. In doing so I hope to capture the spirit of modernity as well as to borrow its means.
