About The Artwork
I live near Jackson Hole, Wyoming and I have always loved Western scenery and wildlife. This painting is a studio piece that was done from a watercolor that I did on location about 10 miles north of Jackson during January at sunset at the time of the full moon. To me it is a culmination of the quintessential western American mystique combining the elements of season, landscape, light, and wildlife; and it is a depiction from present day that is timeless. In other words, it could have happened today, 100 years ago, or 10,000 years ago. This piece will appeal to nature and landscape enthusiasts. One person may see the light conditions and think, "I have seen sunsets like that!" And another may connect with the location and say, "I know that place and that is exactly how the elk look in the winter!" My painting style is evolving quickly and I am doing less wildlife and landscape realism and more figurative and emotional works. I am looking for more excitement through my creative work. However, I still love the outdoors and wildlife because the West is where I grew up.

My passion to create art was sparked early in life by my father's hidden skill. "I was about 5 years old when I came across a sketchbook in our home. When I looked through it I was amazed at the beauty and feeling the pencil drawings evoked! Portraits and street scenes; and I was even more amazed to find out they were my dad's drawings! I knew that I wanted to do that also." I became fascinated with all kinds of art and I believed art would be my career, so I felt free to try a lot of other things. It has been a difficult process but today I am in alignment with who I really am. I am now a full time, growing, changing, fire-breathing genius artist! I love the creation process; it's always new! I do not paint like any other artist that I have seen--my style is my own and it's evolving. My favorite thing is to paint from my imagination.
