About The Artwork

The first Wild Iris was made of dried fragments of unused acrylic paint, peeled from a surface and collaged. The print quality on this piece is so stunning it jumps off the page. This piece has been epoxied for a high shine.

Like many artists, this is not my first career; it is my first love and I have been painting all my life. I enjoyed growing up with a teaching art studio in the home where my mother taught painting. After completing my degree, and in addition to the wide variety of art and design classes I completed, I embarked on a self- directed course of study. I sought out working artists with International reputations, who had teaching studios devoted to my various interests. Combining my passion for interior design with my love of painting I have worked primarily with the Washington, DC Interior Design community on private commissions. This type of career has created a body of work that is unusually varied, as many projects are site specific, created for their own unique purpose. These pieces reflect my aesthetic response to place and can be as varied as abstract, trompe l’oeil, stylized realism, expressionism, and murals. My gallery installations are primarily acrylic and mixed media thematic studies of color, form, texture or subject. I have a studio in Northern Virginia and I am a member of the Touchstone Gallery in Washington, DC. My work has been widely published in national and regional magazines, newspapers and industry publications. I've been on HGTV on two different shows and have twice guest lectured at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. I have been voted THREE times, the Designer’s Choice for art studios as published in Home & Design magazine.
