The eyes can express what words cannot, sometimes without saying a single word, people can communicate a number of emotions and feelings with each other just by making eye contact. When a more personal connection is formed with an individual we learn what certain looks mean, we know when they are sad, happy or angry. We are reliant on our eyes. We do not only use them to see, but to connect with other people. When speaking to others we make eye contact with them to show that we are listening and are comprehending what is being said. Staring at someone or something usually means we are particularly interested in what we are seeing. An incredible human value is to see. Continued eye contact can come across as intimidating; this is why when two people are having a conversation one or the other will briefly look away and then regain eye contact. Eyes in artworks have the same power to convey emotions and feelings, and also communicate and connect with the viewer. Different artists have different ways of portraying emotion in their artworks. They can do this by the way they present the eyes. I choose to present the eye with tears. It doesn’t necessarily mean to show sadness, those can be happy tears, I’m not here to talk about the past, nor the future. I captured a moment in its very present.

David Ditroi's artistic journey began in 2011 with a simple charcoal and a blank canvas. Inspired by his mother, an artist herself, David found solace and inspiration in the world of art. Self-taught and guided by an insatiable curiosity, his creative exploration started amidst the vibrant streets of London. From those humble beginnings, David's passion for self-expression has led him to experiment with various mediums, including pastels and oils. In 2017, he dipped his brush into acrylics, followed by the allure of oil paints in 2018. Each new medium has added layers of depth and richness to his evolving artistic style. For David, art is not just about creation—it's a deeply personal journey of introspection and discovery. His work is a reflection of his innermost thoughts and feelings, a visual diary of his experiences and emotions. With every stroke of his brush, David invites viewers into his world, where colors speak louder than words, and emotions dance across the canvas. His art is an invitation to pause, reflect, and find beauty in the fleeting moments of life. Driven by a genuine love for his craft, David continues to explore the boundless possibilities of artistic expression, with an ever-changing style that mirrors the ebb and flow of life itself.
