About The Artwork

Winds of Change was created on good old fashion brown paper. A yellow bird carries the message that there is always a way out if you trust yourself and tap into your personal power. You do have the strength to make it through the storm. Traditionally, it was believed that if one folded 1000 origami cranes, one's wish would come true. It has also become a symbol of hope and healing during challenging times. As a result, it has become popular to fold 1000 cranes (in Japanese, called “senbazuru”). The number twelve carries religious, mythological and magical symbolism, generally representing perfection, entirety, or cosmic order in traditions since antiquity. Yellow is an attention-grabbing color, so it usually appears when something is trying to get you to pay attention to a certain object or situation. The color challenges you to keep moving forward, despite any fear.

Im a female artist from Cape Town, South Africa. I have been painting for the last 20 years, with no formal art education. My journey started with a box of Vintage Dress Patterns which was turned into a skirt on a metal wired Mannequin and from there to canvas. I have sold many pieces all over the world like Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Madagascar, San Francisco, New York etc. I have exhibited in London at the Art of Africa Gallery. Currently Im working with good old fashion Brown Paper and Vintage Navigation Charts. I only sketch woman and make use of pencils, charcoal and Acrylic paint.
