This piece was inspired on a winter's morning while I was listening to a radio reporter describing the snow, ice and cold of the northeast states. Sitting in my studio in relatively warm Florida, I tried to imagine that cold; frozen lakes, dirty snow, dark icy days. I used an aggregate fiber paste to build texture and depth along with thick heavy acrylic layers applied with deliberate palette knife strokes. The canvas is finished with multiple coats of Liquitex gloss varnish to protect it from discoloration and wear. Signed.

I have been creating artwork and photographs for over 50 years. My painting was influenced at a very early age by the abstract expressionist movement of the early-mid twentieth century. Photographically my inspiration came from the likes of Minor White, Edward Weston, Garry Winograd and Jerry Uelsmann. I've lived in numerous locations in the USA and overseas but now make my home in St Augustine, Florida. I paint in oil and acrylics on canvas, favoring large panels. For my photographic works I use both traditional analog and digital equipment.
