About The Artwork
The forest trails around my home are beautiful with filtered February afternoon light. The weather related changes that result in smaller stick-like trees while alarming also allow more light to filter through, which is why I've titled this painting "Winter Light". My intent is to invite the viewer into this forest pathway, to linger and contemplate. I created visual tension that reinforces changing forest ecologies by using a detailed graphic style of dark stick-like trees and branches against the impressionistic nuances of pathway footsteps in the snow.
