About The Artwork

I love the atmosphear in Brueguel paintings, especially the snowy landscapes, wonderfull theater of humanhood in my mind. Full of details where people are here but not a dominant part in the world. In this work I tried to evocate this tenderness in front of the humans and their fragility. Nomad people, as gypsies (as well of native americans by the way) don't know their place precisely in a landscape. It changes. But they know they are under the sun, under the snowflackes. And fully knowing it, they sing it and honorate the gift of being alive, the real value of it... And the cat, in complicity, is also a gipsy. He follows in owns rules, free and crossing the landscape in one jump. As well of the seasons of life. Dedicaced to all who are in move, always between two places, and sing, plays, drink. Alive at least.

Born 1967, I'm a self-taught artist, fan of painting, illustration and comics. I read art books very early and began selling my watercolors at 15. I still paint every day, as a disciplin ; I particulary appreciate the idea hiden behind the painting, the real meaning ; why I've a special feeling for old way of paintings (allegories and symbolic paintings at the end of middle age in Europe by example). Also very interested in allegoric and surrealistic movement. In fact I don't see real fronteers between the expressions as painting, comic drawing, and animation movies. For me, all of them tries to create emotion in public eyes. All opens our minds and souls. Theses differents influences probably guided me to a narrative/imaginary expression. In my mind the painting here to express something, as a poetic icon, must catch our imaginary, and bring you to the artist mind world, as a proposal or an invitation. My favourites subjects are the journey (or the seasons) of life, the group or communities, also poetic visions of old time. I like to evocate the feminity, not really in nude representations (many others are doing much better than me) but in a allegoric way, visions of the women power of life, painting them as fertile gardens of humanhood, or in a dynamic moovement, riding cats, birds, to catch something they are looking for. I also consider the childhood as the first garden of life, so I like to paint theses kind of themas, as autobiographic or my own children life when they were young. My way of art is to celebrate the humanhood through the several prisms of poetry, humor and tenderness. And build poetic and memory bridges between us and the olders, others times. As an artist I think the power of realizing painting gives a responsability, not to create pollution in people's minds especially in the years, when owners have it in front of the eyes all days. And by opposite, create positives, warm and tenderness visions of love, or -why not- funny paintings.
