Look at this piece from a distance and you can appreciate the beauty and wonder of the child as she gazes at a small, winged horse surrounded by sparkles and flashes of light.

Take a close look and you can appreciate the weeks of painstaking cutting that went into making all of the fine details. It manages to be both simple and very complex at the same time.

Made with sheets of cut paper that is painted and then carefully layered together. To get the right look, I began planning this piece over three months before its completion. There were many hours spent designing at the computer before making the first pencil strokes and knife cuts on the paper.

I hope you can appreciate these details and will enjoy looking at it on your wall for years to come. I certainly had a great time bringing this piece to life.

Created using acid-free paper, acid-free glue and high-end Montana paints for decades (or even centuries) of enjoyment!

**About the Frame**
The frame in the photos is only temporary. I will have the artwork custom framed in a high quality frame with UV protected glass after purchase. Contact me to discuss details.

Artist-in-residence at The Art Lab in Greenville, NC. I started creating stencils almost 30 years ago. Back then airbrush art was everywhere, but I couldn’t afford a fancy airbrush that let me control the width of the paint. Handcrafting stencils not only allowed me to create intricate artwork but the artwork looked different from everything else. I still use much of what I learned decades ago in my art today. One day, as I was posting a photo of a new hand-cut stencil on Instagram, it hit me that the stencil is a work of art itself. Now you’ll see many of my pieces made from layers of hand-cut paper so the “stencil” becomes the art.
