I'm fascinated by time and how sometimes it seems to pass quickly and some memories appear so fresh we can't believe the events were many years ago. When we look into one are we seeing the present, the past over our shoulder or searching for what the future may hold? What are the reflections revealing to us? Do we see what we wish to see or what is reality? These questions are the basis and inspiration for a collection of oil paintings featuring a mirror and although personal to my own inner feelings, the viewer is left to explore their own answers . . .

The use of brush and palette knife to apply the Michael Harding oils gives texture and immediacy to this wistful, impressionistic painting.
The sides are left unpainted and ready for hanging but the painting is suitable for framing if preferred. It is initialed on the front and signed on the back.

One of the photographs shows 'Yesterday's Gone' in a recent exhibition together with some of the others from the mirror collection - these can be found listed separately. *This listing is for one painting only*

Shropshire based UK artist Rebecca Pells works in oil and mixed media creating evocative yet contemporary paintings. They explore 'time' typically presenting still life - and sometimes vintage photographs and letters - chosen for their meaning and representing a moment in time - a turning point - and presented within interior or exterior landscapes. Representational with a whisper of abstraction, the background or 'walls' of the painting are an important element of the work, revealing layers and hinting at the underlying story.
