About The Artwork

People often treat us like their therapist. Listening to those who need help is important, but such relationships can be abstinent in the long run if we don't put an end to them. How many times have we found ourselves in this situation? We do it because substantially we are inclined to help, and that's fine, but we also need to recognize when that help needs to be directed toward ourselves. It is essential that each person, even in a time of difficulty, builds up his or her own spiritual balance that allows him or her to be self-sufficient and to be able to welcome the support of a friend as helpful advice and not as a drug to depend on. My woman depicted in this work expresses this discomfort , her head is really full of other people's stories ...what could be better than a little rest.

I was born in Italy, but I have been living in Greece on the island of Crete for the last 10 years, where I opened my personal art studio. I’m an autodidact with 20 years experience , working with found materials, principally canvas but also wood and stone . I use oils, acrylic, pens, crayons, wax and various varnishes to create emergent forms , generally figurative but also abstract. Working without formal art education, I was, however, influenced by the work of my art teacher Paolo Soragna and from him I learned to detect form in the existing structure of the found material: grain in wood, fissures in rock, even scribbles or impurities in paper or cardboard. The form emerges as a deliberate act of imagination or discovery ,that may become defined as a figure or theme, but always retains some ambiguity. There may be some influence from 'primitive' or 'outsider' art in my art. I work with themes of emotional emergence , organic growth, emotional bonding and solidarity (including maternity and physical/spiritual love and concepts). The mode of expression tends towards freedom and the images are drawn from the immediate environment, the mountains of the Cretan interior and the multi-faceted global society where I live. Emotions, emerge, spontaneously in my art leaving to everyone the opportunity to imagine the story that in silence i wrote in my art.works
