About The Artwork

It's unspoken, but it's common knowledge. And so we play the game. This painting is painted onto a canvas, which was then glued to a wood panel. The wood panel is about 1 cm wider and taller on each side, and is painted white, which creates a frame of sort. I painted this piece on un-stretched canvas, while in Mexico (so that I could roll it up and fit it into a tube, and take it on the plane with me). When I returned home, I had it professionally glued onto the panel, which is set upon a 1" frame. This process is called marouflage. The wood is painted white. The wood panel is mounted onto a white wooden frame, which makes it stand out from the wall, about 2 inches or so. This allows for a lovely shadow to be cast on the wall, behind the painting. This is the sister painting to I Know You Know, which I painted around the same time, in Mexico.

"Hi, I'm Claire Desjardins. It's really nice to meet you. I help to create happiness by infusing moments of joy in everyday lives." Claire Desjardins (b. 1965, Montreal) is an award-winning Canadian artist living and working in Gore, Quebec. Working primarily in painting, her formally driven work focuses on gesture and colour, emphasizing energetic, animated brush strokes and bold palettes. Her work is both highly abstract and highly personal, a dynamic expression of sentiments or reactions of which she is consciously unaware. She regularly exhibits her work in galleries and art fairs throughout North America. In addition, she frequently teaches painting workshops and has served as a jury member on several national art prizes. Claire has been involved with collaborations with major brands such as The Ritz-Carlton, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Microsoft, Shutterfly, among others. In Spring 2019, Claire launched her new signature collection of art apparel, Claire Desjardins, which is sold in stores across the US and in Canada, in the UK and New Zealand. She has live-painted on stage with the likes of Randy Bachman and Blue Rodeo and Styx. Her artwork was auctioned off, and the 100% of the proceeds were donated to help sick kids. Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections around the world.
