Young Birch and Fire Painting

“Great art picks up where nature ends.”—Marc Chagall My work focuses on loose landscapes that verge on abstract, often involving texture and compositional order. I paint with acrylic, gesso, various modeling pastes, ink, and other materials. Strong bands of muted colors in nature captivate me, and I often reduce them to simple motifs to capture broad, sweeping horizons. My work reflects constantly changing ideas about how to respond to the fields and woods and lakes I see daily. The result of this spills over lovingly onto the canvas.
