With watercolors like this, it's important to empty the mind and let the figure build itself, using any interesting or unexpected marks to inform what happens next. I like to start with the most basic shapes first, like bones and maybe a few muscles. and slowly build in layers, or sometimes remove layers, until I reach a cohesive resolution. I like how this one suggests a certain spirituality- the line from the heavens acting as a conduit to the divine. I didn't plan that part. Decisions like that are spontaneous.
