Zephyros and Iris Painting

This like many of my works is inspired by the gods and greek mythology. Zephyros, a soft western wind, was married to Iris, or Hermes, the messenger of the gods. The painting portrays Iris as the two angels from the Christian religion and their children. As the legend goes these two gods didn't give birth to humans, but instead they had two beautiful horses. As I reflect on the story and my painting I want viewers to realize what Greek mythology can teach us. The story shows the beauty and balance that one can find in nature. We as a human race need to realize that nature needs to be taken care of. Once we realize this fundamental truth our lives will be better. I chose acrylic colors because they give me both dynamic movement and a big range of pastel shades. As they dry fast it is easier for me to be more impulsive.
