It is said that Zeus was impressed by the beauty of this girl and fell in love with her. According to a legend, the love of the god for Io was caused by the charms made by Iynx, the daughter of the nymph Echo. One night the young girl had a dream in which she was ordered to walk on the shores of Lake Lerna and give herself to Zeus. She tries to deny him a union with the god, but her father, advised by the oracles of the oracle at Delphi and Dodone, decides not to provoke divine wrath and to submit. He went to a field, and Zeus covered it with a curtain of clouds so that his wife, Hera, would not see the adultery committed.
