About The Artwork

"Zombies do have rights", the title but also written on the canvas, in greek, english and italian as a statement. A strong one considering we, humans, desperately striving for basic rights. Therefore, i use the fictional existence of zombies, as a way to say that no matter what equality applies everywhere, even in imagination. There is no reason to discriminate even if it's about resurrected corpses. As in most of my latest paintings i write on canvas repeatedly a phrase, drawing at the same time creatures hovering in an ecstatic state interacting. On the upper part of the painting we can see that these creatures are filled with the phrase "zombies do have rights". The basic forms were made with a large pink brush stroke. What i did see, and kept it to the end, was a hybrid of a cartoon sheep-pig (ear)-dog, a dr frankenstain's resurrected animal zombie. Underneath it's ear there is a phallus giving birth to ink creatures, while on the right part we can see zombies rising from bloody orange holes. The viewer is encouraged to continue seeing stories or even better create his/her own.

I consider art as a malfunction of the brain, a moment where you are aware, disoriented from your feelings space and time...everything looks the other way, doing what was supposed to and you stand there all alone, far away...away from your self customed cage. Art happens when you gaze at the view out of your thoughts and feelings that the bars of the cage blur and gradually melt under the blinding light of freedom.
