This is a glass mosaic in a custom made frame that I finished to suit the mosaic. I make fused glass tiles and then use them to make mosaics. So much of a chameleon’s coolness is her amazing technicolor skin. That’s what made me want to do her in the first place. I was more interested in the texture than the color. But they have other adaptations that are just as badass. She can look in two directions at once, and she has a ballistic tongue. One thing I found out from researching chameleons is that their front paws have two toes on the outside and three toes on the inside. Their back paws are configured opposite with three toes on the outside. She’s surrounded by a fern, fiddleheads and beetles. Most every feature in this mosaic is rounded and most all of the background is square or rectangle. Current research is saying that chameleons’ color changing is more than just camouflage, it is believed to be language too. The message here is about NOT blending. I just gotta be me.
