My work deals with the social issues, which are very global today. Through my simple works, a language easily understood by all, I see how the geographical change affects the functioning of a human psychic. Coming from a small village and making it all the way to a big city college, I went through a drastic change of, not only environment but emotions, feelings and the treatment of life. Most of my earlier works were an out come of this shift, based on the memories of my childhood – how we weave our future based on the stories narrated by grandparents and the toys played with; a new gadget or a vehicle entices one and chucks every other thought out of the mind; a life lived not run by rules imposed on by external forces but only the ones that keep you respectful in the eyes of all.

India
ravi kumar was born in 1986 Karnataka state in India.Ravikumar’s first love is nature. He is very much concerned about the environmental pollution caused by mindless urbanization. The depletion of the environment has triggered a series of works by Ravikumar. As a person who looks at nature with caring eyes, water resources have been a major thematic in most of his works. In his paintings as well as in his sculptural installations he brings in a sort of critique on the excessive use of plastic bottles and bottled water. He brings in the irony of urban spaces where drinking water is supplied by tankers. Also Ravikumar creates images that would help the viewer to understand his concerns for the wild life. He looks at the wildlife as a very precious gift of nature and he raises his voice for protecting the wild life. In some of his works, the animals appear are surrogate human presence. He obliquely says that the condition of the human beings is no better than those of the tortured wild animals. Ask Ravikumar what he wants to become if not an artist, he would immediately say that he would like to become a farmer. His love for earth is so strong that his works emanate this quality of his personality.
