borderland - dreamland Painting

Sibylle Möndel is opening up memorials and thinking space to the viewer of her pictures with the borderland - dreamland. Both the individual as well as whole groups have been living in limited landscapes since the time of human thought, but they are dreaming endlessly in their inner realms. Sibylle Möndel has devoted her work to this tension field for years. Quaintly laid pictures on canvas, superimposed with screen prints in layers, is the technique chosen by her to correspond to the aspect of movement, that of being on the way: Arranged in series and cycles are figurines or schemas of human figures evacuated from dreams, with or without architectural references, in open landscapes. Borderland - dreamland could be title or first line of a poem or song. A song - inaudible but worn by thousands of voices ... in silence, held in the images of Sibylle Möndel.
