cometa pracaidista Painting

My paintings I offer at Saatchiart I summarize under the title "home". I work with photo albums of my own family, with photographies that I get from clients or with photos that I purchase. Many of the works which are included in this series I draw in oil on burlap. Burlap is a very raw material and I think it fits well to illustrate a time that no longer exists. Because I´m interested in every person´s attitude, it´s charisma and it´s setting I work a long time on every detail. When I got this black and white photograph in my hands, I had to laugh out loud. Although, because of the size and blurriness of the photograph, one does not understand at first why the girl is standing on the garage roof, I immediately recognized from the open parachute that this was the toy that probably every kid in the 70s had played with. When I researched the internet in 2017, I read for the first time that the toy bears the complicated name "cometa paracaidista". The Photo affected me, because I rememberd those long hot afternoons in summer: One was boring, but one wanted to do something. You looked for some pastime and then there was this little plastic man with his parachute … I got the urge to color this hot summer day, which was only to guess in the black and white photography. The red and white parachute against a blue summer sky, that was what I wanted.
