About The Artwork

During this past two years I started doing experiments with a simple tool that is available in PS since version 4 (that I remember), the finger tool, wich allowed me to make beautiful lines or strokes/tags, streching multiple colours that show up or remain hidenn as the strokes moves forward, giving the illution of 3d space. This is a very simple process even used outside digital world, such as the industry to produce extrusion materials like steel, plastic, wood and aluminium frames, etc. I started to reaserch for ways to take this digital process to a more analog way. One of the ways I´ve been using in the past (in addition to the traditional grid) was to project the computer designed drawing on a canvas or a wall, and then paint it. Another way i used was to laser cut wood plates to translate the result vectors into a 2d object. This ways were and are ok, but I still wanted to make this whole process in an analog way from scratch, become independent from the computer, and also improve it. After some tests and reaserch I finally created the “stroke artifact”, a simple tool made of a circle wood with holes on the perimeter to incorporate any drawing tool to leave a mark. As I make the path with my own arm through the wall, the stroke appears and then I paint over the sections and arrive to the same result as the one I can achieve with the computer. Even better, because I can choose to do different movements with my hand and produce different results that aren´t available on Photoshop. more information https://harymbat.com/The-stroke-artifact
