introversion Painting

My work is figurative in nature, in my early studies I predominantly worked with canvas as a medium using oil and acrylic. The human nature with all its physical, emotional complexities has always been the central theme of my paintings. I do not see the figure as a stand alone subject, instead I like to blend them in with their backgrounds because I believe that is the true representation of human nature as we are never separated from our backgrounds, surroundings or the environment. While my early work had a greater focus on the struggles of an individual with the outside world and all its happennings, I have shifted my focus to a more internal one; the idea of looking deep inside oneself, turning within and facing all the internal battles and struggles going on that are invisible to the outside eye. With this shift in theme I’ve also started to experiment with different mediums as I realized I could not fully express the dynamic relationship between the human and its surroundings with the two dimensional nature of canvas. So I started using resin and incorporating different type of materials into my practice to create the background and surroundings. With my current works I am using a layered system with resin, creating an almost three dimensional atmosphere that circle the figure.
