About The Artwork

The shadows of the past danced behind closed eyes. As visions of victory played out in dreams, so too did a promise begin to form - a promise of triumph over struggles faced, a promise of light finding its way through even the darkest of nights. This work, "Last Night I dreamt we won", seeks to capture that hope-filled moment just after the final bell, when all struggles seem but a memory and a bright future stretches out ahead, unwritten. Though the scene depicted is one of a boxing match ended, the victory hinted at runs deeper than any physical contest. It speaks to the battles waged within one's own spirit, the fights to maintain passion in spite of setbacks, the rounds weathered in service of one's vision coming to fruition. The spiraling backdrop embraces all efforts poured into the ring, all sacrifices made that have led to this point of celebration. Though the road ahead remains long, in dreams comes the fuel to walk it. As with any dream, there hangs the threat of waking to find it but an intangible whisper on the wind. Yet sometimes a dream, through its ability to nurture hope in even the most doubting of hearts, becomes the first step on the path to manifestation. It is my hope that this work too might plant such a seed, might offer solace and reminder of promise to any who gaze upon its scene of triumph, however momentary, over adversity. While the future is unwritten, in dreams lies the possibility of rewriting countless tomorrows with vision, courage and perseverance as our guides.
