About The Artwork

This painting is based on a collage I have done inspired by work of Chinese painter Zhang Xiaogang. This painting is form the Religion series in which I was trying to describe the lie that religion brings to people life. We are all like children wanting love and care... At the end all that religion brings is totally opposite. Painting this was like a theraphy.

Born in 1974 in Katowice (Poland). Studied painting at the University of the West of England, Bower Ashton, Bristol (Bachelor's degree in painting) and the Byam Shaw School of Art - Saint Martin College of Art and Design in London (diploma in painting, scholarship award). Scholar of UWE Bristol and Saint Martin College of Art and Design and annual resident at Lancaster Foundation in Clitheroe (England). The curator of international art residencies "Incidenty / Incidents" in Poland, Czech Republic, Norway and United Kingdom. Co-founder of the ‘Szara’ Gallery " in Cieszyn (Poland), UnderGround Art Centre in Clitheroe (England) and the School of Art and Thinking in Cieszyn (Poland). At present works and curates city Gallery ‘12’ in Cieszyn (Poland) **************************************************************** In my latest works, I try to settle accounts with the past related quite strongly to the concept and role of 'religion' in my life. Religion as a system and religion as the sphere of the sacred. Connected with the spirit, often also binding the human spirit. Its 'vertical' (divine) dimension remains unchanged, while the 'horizontal' (human) dimension is often a space for manipulation, play, tarnished emotions and lost time. I also explore my experience of broadly understood 'motherhood' and stories related to women's endurance. Painting is for me like a 'tunnel' through which the words, dreams and thoughts fly and become the body - the spoken word in colour and form.
